The reason Islam is hated is mostly Muslims
Yes i have
What bait? It's a genuine question
Because religion is opposed to human enlightenment and reason, and Islam is the least enlightened religion. It is ignorant of contemporary problems, backward and expansionistic.
Generally speaking, the people who don't like it find it threatening because it is so different from what they know.
Many of them walk around in religious clothing all the time - hat, thobe, sandals, beard. Many of the women wear full niqab. They don't drink alcohol or go the pub (completely alien to a British person), they tend to nominate and vote for their own political candidates, rather than mainstream politics. So if an area is Muslim en masse, they will nominate a Muslim MP from that community, either independent or Labour, and that MP will consider primarily Muslim interests in their political life, eg Gaza. At least, that is the perception of many xenophobic Brits.
The events perpetrated by extremists and evil people, which all Muslims end up sharing the blame for - 9/11, 7/11, Rotherham sex trafficking.
Many of the areligious people in Britain think that all religion is brainwashing and self-delusion. They don't respect it and think that religious people are an eccentric oddity to be tolerated. Therefore it's easy for them to believe that anyone who follows one will lose their ability to consent or think for themselves.
Many Muslims here, even today are extremely defensive and guarded about their religion because they know that culturally they are not accepted or respected like a "good old Englishman" is; they always have to prove themselves first. Some of them accept that and are very good citizens - you can go to a Muslim area and the streets will always be clean, there will be no gangs hanging around on the corner and they are generally very quiet.
When our next door neighbours moved in, they brought us a tin of shortbread and a card with a picture of Buckingham Palace on it 😂
In the 60's and 70's there was a pass-time for working class English youths called "♥♥♥♥-Bashing" where you drive around looking for Muslims and beat them up, or you phone a taxi and beat up the driver. Many of them haven't forgotten those kinds of incidents, even if they want to.
I respect them because I think the ones who really understand their religion, are brave enough to follow it regardless of what anyone else thinks, and they really do look after each other, they are very community minded when it comes to things like financing projects and businesses and giving to charity. I think a lot of British people find that threatening too because it challenges the choices they have made, and it's easier to label someone who gives all their money to Gaza and wears a white sheet instead of Nike as a "crazy person" instead of asking why don't I try generosity and modesty in their own life.
