Has anyone noticed in large discords, people are just talking to themselves?

I noticed many people just post to make noise, hardly anyone really responds to each other, I mean besides from bots too. I was in a video game discord and asked a question and everyone went to talk about themselves for an hour

I've found over the years that there is no conversation happening in any thread with over 1,000 comments in a day. It's just a graffiti wall. YouTube, Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, Daily Mail, etc. There's no real point to commenting on any of those large threads. Nobody's going to connect with you, any more than spray painting your tag on a train car.

Most people are just waiting for their turn to talk without paying much attention to whats actually being said, there is no difference online its the same as irl

yeah kind of. sometimes i peek into caseohs discord and because there are a few thousand people speaking at any given time, most peoples just speak to themselves by throwing a message out into the ether. it is hard to have meaningful, one on one conversation in such a chaotic environment.

i hate that everything has to be contained to a lobotomised public discord server now

you want a sense of community for a game? gotta join the giant server full of twitter/youtube normies where no real interaction exists

you want to make content for a game? gotta join a modding server where you'll be debated and ran around in circles for asking questions and reporting issues

meanwhile all the guys actually worth hanging with are in-game and don't touch the game's discord because they also know how stinky that ♥♥♥♥ is

I was in a discord once where I tried to get the group to actually talk about something cause it was dead as ♥♥♥♥ and instead I got bullied by some pick me and her simps and permanently banned from the group lmfao uwu
