I thought about mentioning it, but when part of my point is that we ought not to putting words in people's mouths it seemed to be hypocritical of me to do so. A statement should at least be internally self-consistent in principle. Not like everybody doesn't know Kim Jong Un is a dictator. That's just one of those things that kind of goes without saying, which is another reason I did not mention it. It is the needless beating of a dead horse.
Moreover, if we are going to read more into the conversation than was said it needs to be noted that the overall broader context of the conversation was also more along the lines of why not invite Kim Jong Un to the white house because he deserves the same amount of respect as any other world leader and has the respect of his people. Not let's make the U.S.A. into North Korea.
There's a bit of a defensive tone to it, as if Kim Jong Un shouldn't be disrespected. I'd be tempted to say that's just Presidential diplomacy, but in Trump's case he throws all kinds of disrespect at Rosie O' Donnell almost everybody, so I can't do that for him.
Nah, that's kind of the way the world works unless you want the U.S.A. to rout him out like Saddam Hussein with predictable results. Otherwise you have to take the diplomatic approach to trying to maintain the peace.
Part of the reason Trump can trash talk the other world leaders is that the U.S.A. is on generally good terms with them so y'know,it can be taken as a sort of bad humor and vaguely tolerated, with a healthy amount of disdain. That is not really the case with powers like N.K., China and Russia though.
Even Winston Churchill is said to have had some measure of respect for Hitler.[winstonchurchill.org]
Try being the boss. You want your people to sit up and pay attention.
And everyone has free will in the United States unlike communist North Korea.
Trump won. Relax.
