The fact that highscool and college teachers don't show Hadashi no Gen after explaining what had happened at Hiroshima and Nagasaki really doesn't put enough emphasis on what the people there experienced.
The lesson to learn here is that the deliberate mass murder of civilians is okay as long as you can militarily justify it.

Ehhh. It was kind of a really, really, really bad war.
It is well known what happened there as well as what was experienced. No need for an anime to be taught.
There was a Japenese man who experienced the sight of both the nukes. He was traveling between cities for work or something and saw both of them destroyed

I am hazy on the details but it was quite a wild experience he went through.
Well, happy anniversary I suppose. 💥

he must have seen the clouds after the detonations, right? looking directly at the blast as it happened would blinded him. or was he blind? either way that must have been haunting to see.

History is written by victors, good or bad.

And they become US best friend.

Funny that the heaviest punch turns enemy into friend.

The US took the lessons that Europe did not learn from WWI and did not humiliate the Japanese after their surrender, but instead sought cooperation, and reconciliation.

Yeah I do believe he ended up just seeing the clouds afterwards

I'll have to find the video of his story, but I do remember his boss not believing that it had happened the first time, and he had to tell his boss that it happened a second time

I think I heard it from "MrBallen" on yt. If i find it ill post it

imagine just going to work and you see the nearly 20km high clouds over the horizon. your boss does not believe you, and you have zero idea what is going on because the world had never seen such things utilised before in actual combat.
