Because we elect suits based on what they say and not based on what they do. If you elect immoral people then you get immoral results. Sadly most voting in the US is just people checking boxes of the person with the D or R next to their name and moving on. Not many people even bother to research the candidates or go through their past. What's sad is people who interview you for a job do better background checks than the American citizens do.

They strongly believe they are right.
