Census 2030 - Here we go
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-census-2030-undocumented-immigrants/

Trump just announced he has directed the Department of Commerce to begin working on the 2030 Census so that only lawful residents are counted.
Citizens and non-citizens alike as long as they are not in the country illegally.

Without a doubt we'll be in for a few hot weeks with the usual partisan judges rushing to declare this move unconstitutional.
But unlike 2020, this time Trump will have all the time needed to get the Supreme Court to make a proper ruling on the matter; and with recent trends, it would have a fair chance of having this new rule formally approved.

For those that are not american, this is huge.
The Census is used for pretty much everything that has to do with government: number of representatives sent to DC, number and size of the districts to elect state legislatures, even the funding that the federal government provides to the state is (mostly) determined based on the results of the census, with higher population areas getting more money.

Should be intended as “for those who don’t know how the system works and are wondering what it means”, but fair enough I suppose.

Although the overturning of the status quo in the USA is bound to create more than a few ripples around the pond.

Without illegals, democrats are projected to lose about 40 seats in the House.
