Kindness without asking.
What do you think of people who do "nice things" without asking someone if they wanted them to do it?

I'm talking about "surprise kindness" where someone does something nice for someone, unwarranted, unasked, and without the recipient having any idea it's going to happen.

Like mowing someone's lawn when they're at work without asking.

Cleaning someone's car without asking.

Paying for something for someone in line without asking.

Etc.

I used to volunteer to do "nice things" for people who asked for help with things.

After repeatedly receiving no thanks for doing said things, I stopped doing them.
I keep an eye on them, that's sus.
I do it all the time. My neighbor is around 77~ years old and has trouble walking. So, sometimes when she feels really tired, she ask me if I could prepare dinner for her. Which I often do.

When I was a kid. That old lady took care of me and my sister when my parents needed to be away. As far as I am concerned, that makes her almost family to me.

maybe there is a voice in their head telling them to do nice things, most people dont need to be asked by someone else to be nice,
are there people that just do things without any guidance, not even voices in their head? what do they do? I dont know them very well.
I think it's good, I'm the same it's almost automatic since I was raised to be kind uwu
gotta be done, always help others less fortunate.

it feels good and *is* good.
Minnesota Nice and Janteloven mandate at least making an offer to assist.
Cool people

Even if they didn't need to help, their willingness to try for nothing in return is a good sign of character.
It takes nothing to just be nice to your fellow man every now and then

Helping others should be a natural thing, and one shouldn't seek thanks for helping others, it's nice but it's not a requirement.
I wasn't clear enough I think, most of you are answering another question entirely. 🤷
I don't understand why kindness which comes naturally to me is apparently seen by some others as something to make you double check someone else.

Like, that person is 'too' kind. I wonder why. Idk maybe they just really are that kind? Like what?

Re reading the OP, okay, yeah, that kinda kindness outta nowhere, I think that would make me double check someone, yes

Well, I think it's a good thing because I'm biased since I do it all the time.

There's the old lady I often take care off. Then there is my best friend who lost his eyesight a couple years ago. Trying to support/help him the best I can.

there's always an ulterior motive.
online? fake, performative
real world? good deeds, settling the score with god

Not literally always

I held the door for someone else this morning. Was I just being kind or did I have some mysterious ulterior motive? lol
