What do you think caused Dragons to be no longer feared?
I can think of some reasons why the concept of fictional mythical giant flying magical lizards became no longer feared as this final boss fight or very difficult mini boss fight in some genres and games.

...Cause if you played Skyrim long enough you'll eventually slain hundreds of them for loot and experience points and eventually you'll learn the power of breaking the game with alchemy and enchantments to become one punch man and then eventually just slap Alduin in the face as if you're trying to discipline a pet to become house broken.

Believe me. If I constantly played challenge only runs. I too would eventually learn to break the game and grow very tired of waiting for the final boss of the game having it's health being slowly chipped away by essential NPC's then landing the final blow with a enchanted fork that does an whopping extra 2 points in whatever elemental damage.

My second reason would be that it is very common that dragons are used a lot when making a fantasy world. Cause the magical giant flying lizards are still popular to this day as they're still being used as a part of whatever person's fantasy world they want to make as their heart desires.
I mean could you blame them? Just look at all the different cool dragons out there on different franchises and media on how they're portrayed as a threat to the world or a very valuable but also quite large ally against a even more powerful foe.

...Then there's Anime.
Depending on which era you grew up with. You'll see them as these very dangerous mythical creatures as they are.
...And then someone had an idea of what if we made the dragon into an anime girl?
I'm not saying it was a bad idea. It's just that fast forward to today and ask me on how many people didn't see a anime girl who's half dragon or a dragon that decided to take the form of a human because reasons.
There are half dragon anime guys too... but their greatly overshadowed by their female counterparts cause Waifu's make more money.
Also if they're written and are designed well... that up for you to decide if think humanizing something is good or not.

Yeah in some instances they CAN be scary but most of the time they're just not and i'm not willing to go watch every instance of every time a half dragon person show up in fictional media cause that'll be very ridiculous to look around for a random discussion at midnight.

Comment if you have any other theories or thoughts on what caused the fictional mythical magical giant flying lizards to be no longer having the more fear reputation that they used to have.
Cause Skyrim was released like what? 17-18 times by now?
Eventually everyone who's going to pick up and play that is going to be slaying dragons like it's outta style.

Meanwhile I'm still waiting for a good who would win fight of a legendary dragon vs a AC130.

Don't even get me started on half dragon half human intimacy thing on would they lay an egg or not.

"Then from the dark, They came, and found the Souls of Lords within the flame. Nito, the First of the Dead, The Witch of Izalith and her Daughters of Chaos, Gwyn, the Lord of Sunlight, and his faithful knights. And the Furtive Pygmy, so easily forgotten.

With the strength of Lords, they challenged the Dragons. Gwyn's mighty bolts peeled apart their stone scales. The Witches weaved great firestorms. Nito unleashed a miasma of death and disease. And Seath the Scaleless betrayed his own, and the Dragons were no more."

from the opening cutscene of dark souls 1

dragons in most fantasy stories are ancient, more ancient than nearly everything else in the setting. they are symbolic of the "old age", and are usually seen as mere myth or very rare by the time most fantasy tales take place. sometimes they are gods, or seen as gods or demigods in the setting, or avatars of deities. the death and dwindling of dragons is usually seen as an ending to "the age of gods" and the beginning of "the age of men" where most fantasy tales begin.

sometimes it is even humans (or other fantasy races) that are the reason for their undoing.

That’s why you’re supposed to sparingly put dragons in games.
The Bomb
read this story if you can find it

"Dragonfire is Brighter Than A Million Suns"
Well real ones don't exist but if a komodo dragon came in your house, you would probably be pretty scared.
dragons are real, one day you'll see
There is a RTS game that I use to play called Warlord Battlecry 3 (I probably butchered the name) but every faction has their own dragon they can call upon.

Human Race can call on the Fire Dragon.
Undead Race can call on the Undead Dragon.
Elves have the Celestial Dragon.
And I believe Dwarfs have a Frost Dragon.

What makes dragons so OP in that game is their ability “fear”. It gives everyone a 50 percent damage debuff. Dragons are just below Titans. Titans can inflict the “terror” debuff which enemies will refuse to fight. Only units with “immune to fear” can take Titans on.

Dragongirls are also my favourite monstergirl, here be bias.

Seriously though most dragon fights tend to be boring, they’re either tanky af and take a year, or you just kind of poke their legs. Or you shoot at their tail for 10 minutes and get a broken weapon that trivialises over half the game.
all the bard players tryna fug with them
