META is spying upon you and your location...
META Instagram had an update which gave away your locations on a map. It didn't inform anyone and was enabled by default unless you dig around the settings (location services > deny) to prevent it.

Stalkers and hackers started using it to track people.

Yet why was it done?

It appears that ICE agents are going around wearing META AI Glasses, right around the same time it started. Likely using your social media and smartphones to track individuals.

META later released a statement on it claiming that: "Instagram Map is off by default, and your live location is never shared unless you choose to turn it on. If you do, only people you follow back — or a private, custom list you select — can see your location.", yet previously that didn't seem to be the case.

User's Instagram photos and posts where plotted across the map with their very location, even if the location sharing feature disabled. It included both real-time locations, and also had earlier posts tagged with a location too.

Do you think location tracking is taking it a step too far?

Perhaps it was enabled by mistake or on purpose?

Are AI glasses also a privacy concern?

if youre still using Zucc platforms in 2025 you get what you deserve
Instagram is garbage as is Meta in general. Why do people continue to use these awful platforms? Fakebook is the worst thing that happened to civilisation this century.

I still believe social media creators should be aware of it at least. Quite a few fans (or non-fans) tend to try following them around everywhere.

Also, parents for their children using it, some teenager being bullied, or a female being stalked around by someone finding their location each time.

It's quite the privacy concern, specially when it seemed enabled without any user's awareness about it.

What ? Now that the public at large is able to stalk it's a privacy concern ? Only the NSA, the CIA, the FBI and the other 120+ homeland security thnigy are permitted, or is it "not stalking" in their case ?

Anyhow, having no privacy is not a news, and the whole TikTok "ban if it is not under the US control" proves that Facebook was doing lot worse since time immemorial and was f*cking hypocritical.

But, hey, hypocrisy is the norm in the US.
If you own a smartphone, you're being spied upon. US is definitely using any and all means to spy on their residents as much as possible. Legal or not.

No I mean you all use stuff that spies on you, no one cares.

Old news. We’ve known about the spying since Snowden.

So will someday META aka Facebook plaatforms face scrutiny & be legally accountable, for all the harm it has done?

Ma Bell and Microsoft both got crushed in historic court cases, but both are still around (as AT&T in Bell's case), and behaving worse than ever.
