remember in the anime when charmander could die from having its tail flame extinguished? so if a charmander goes up against a water pokemon are they just going to die?

Yup. That's why my friends used to wreck me with their Blastoise's.

the pokemon games have a lot of really disturbing lore considering their target demographic of young kids. pokemon very often seem to just kill or do other horrible things to humans in the pokemon world.
