oh my god caseohs eventual playthrough of this is going to be hilarious
What's wrong with Rockstar? It's a great game developer. GTA and Red Dead, plus old school games like Max Payne, Oni and Manhunt.
Well to be fair they did and made manhunt 2, and it was too violent and horrible to even be sold in half of places and to make any money. I consider it even like a draw really.
Their unimaginable levels of greed is what's wrong with them.
They cut massive amounts of content from RDR2 (100+ hours) in order to focus on the super restrictive, everything locked beyond paywalls, online mode, only to drop support for the online mode almost entirely as soon as it became clear they weren't going to be able to scam players into buying gold bars.
GTAV also had promised single player DLC announced, yet they scrapped that in order to focus on pumping out super cheap copy/pasted content that they could sell for hilariously overinflated prices to scam people into buying shark cards. ($50 for a single vehicle that is nothing but copy/pasted assets)
Nearly 1 billion dollars per year just off of their shark card scam alone, and they had the audacity to publicly state that they considered GTAV to be "under monetized" which means they consider it to be a failure. They are upset because they should have been able to scam way more money out of players.
In addition they have some of the most anti-consumer practices in the entire industry. Such as not being able to play RDR2 single player without an internet connection because their garbage launcher has to connect with the internet EVERY SINGLE TIME in order to "verify the integrity of the game purchase" or however they worded their nonsense excuse to collect data. (yes some people can bypass this for a few days, but they eventually need an internet connection to "verify" it again, and many people like myself are forced to "verify" the game literally every single time they launch it.)
Not only all that, but the core team of developers at Rockstar, the people responsible for every single great game that they have ever produced.... well they have ALL left the company. GTA 6 and any future games they might develop are being made by an entirely new team of newly hired developers. Developers who are going to be far more subservient to the horrible ideas that come from their non-gamer, anti-consumer, greed focused bosses at TakeTwo.
Rockstar used to be the greatest game developer we had ever seen. Unfortunately that Rockstar literally doesn't exist anymore. It has been replaced by what is now one of the worst, most scammiest, most anti-consumer, lowest quality developers in the entire industry.
If they thought for one second they could get away with doing it, they would charge a $100 daily subscription in order to play single player. And even that would still be considered to be "under monetized"
No game developer in the history of the industry has ever deserved to go bankrupt and cease to exist more than Rockstar.
I would never try to stop any developer from remaking any game.
If I don't like it I simply vote with my wallet and don't purchase it.
as a horror buff i enjoy it for that. it has a sickening, grimy aesthetic and much of the violence and depravity is played for horror, it attempts to look like a low budget snuff film. the sequel to me kind of lost much of that charm with its more vibrant visuals and over the top violence.
Sequel was fricken awesome I thought, lol.
i do like it, i just like it in a different way than manhunt 1. i just enjoy the grungy vibe of the first game more
