Why do I punish myself by clicking on Blocked User - Show?
Am I hopeful that maybe the person will have something insightful to say?

Am I holding onto a lingering hope for humanity?

I'm always reminded why I blocked the person in the first place, that must be why.

High emotions, low impulse control
It is what it is dude
People who are neurotic enough to block people are also neurotic enough to click "show" on every message.

Their fun is going out of their way for extra clicks.

4 teh lulz, sometimes its just the back-end you affirming its judgements, proving time and time again that you need to trust your own judgement.

Why do you slow down to look at a car accident?

to help the victim(s).

i mean, if it's obviously just a fender bender, you do it so you can lean out of the window and yell, "you're not supposed to park there!"

It is like the Every Flavour Jelly Beans in Harry Potter, you know whatever it is won't be what you want but you still must have a taste....just to taste it.

If you read the forum in a browser which allows you to use custom adblock rules (Vivaldi, Brave, or Firefox with an adblocking extension), then use custom adblock rules to hide the blocked user message.

! Delete blocked user posts on forum index pages steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com##div:has(> div.forum_topic_name.op_hidden) ! Delete blocked user posts from thread pages steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com##div:has(> span.commentthread_deleted_comment_audit)

If multiple blocked messages are on a single page, it can become obvious that some are missing and potentially encourage you to disable the filters and have a look, but for the most part i am completely oblivious to messages from blocked users.

Imagine blocking people
i'm imagining it.

the communist policemen block people by holding up a riot shield in front of themselves and beating their victims with a big stick. somewhere, a gunshot pierces the air, and then another. a dead man lying on top of a door is being carried by protesters somewhere. the angry voices of several soldiers are yelling at our honorable citizens, telling them to go back home.
a stark refusal prompts the policemen to fire at the civilians yet again, at which point the crowds disperse with much screaming.

i don't like this memory. why did you tell me to imagine it?
