President Trump wins big on trade deal with EU

President Trump negotiated the biggest and most advantageous trade deal with Europe on July 27, and on August 21, 2025, the United States and European Union issued a joint statement formalizing the “Framework on an Agreement on Reciprocal, Fair, and Balanced Trade.”

Part of the deal is Energy which is at the heart of the agreement. Europe’s $750 billion commitment to purchase U.S. liquefied natural gas, oil, and nuclear products through 2028 cements America’s role as the world’s energy superpower.

Europe has been financing Russia's war with The Ukraine by purchasing energy from Russia. Using the United States, Europe gains a stable, democratic supplier. America’s rise as the world’s largest producer of oil and natural gas, fueled by the shale revolution is a boon to European nations.

Framework is not a deal, it`s still only possible deal and nothing has been confirmed or set in stone. His supporters are touting his huge deals but framework is all that they have been everywhere.

Europe hasn't committed to anything except a 15% tariff on the cost of European pharmaceuticals to US citizens. 60% of our pharma comes from Europe and he is punishing us for that.

The energy, as EU have stated, has nothing to do with their government and is a choice of the purchasers. The EU government doesn't purchase energy on behalf of energy suppliers.

Actually every expert has already said that the number is unrealistic and the only way to accomplish it would be by diverting local US supplies and exporting them instead resulting in a massive cost increase to US consumers for energy prices.
