Military. Why join?
Why do so many people STILL join the US military when it's WELL KNOWN that the United States of America treats its vets like DOG s&*t?

How are people still so gullible as to believe that their service is somehow glorious? It's just powerful, typically vile people using you and lying to your face in order for you to suffer instead of them.

I believe this is why the military complex still targets schools. Much like Christians do. They want that brainwashing set in deep before the children have a chance to become anything but brainwashed drones.

Because they were brainwashed by all the propoganda glorifying war and death. I used to want to join the military and fight but then i realized our leaders are corrupt. Also some men have a warrior spirit and they want an outlet. Unfortunately fighting on the other side of the earth is rarely justified or righteous.

So nothing to do with the 'everything else' that is not mentioned by the OP.

Because the President is the one paying off the poors' student loans afterwards.
Well, if *I* don't sacrifice myself to J.P. Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo, then who will?

well, they give you a gun. if i had a gun, i could shoot myself. not my favourite suicide method, i must admit, but it is a method nonetheless.

some humans are *actually* warlike, and don't just 'talk' about being warlike.

hence, the military is a great place for said individuals. one may suggest it was 'built' for people like that.

Just something of me and my opinion.....

There should be more Soldiers who made the transition to civvie making organisations to help others in that change.

Hot take but the military should only be used for self-defense similar to Japan.

The short answer is 'indoctrination'

You manipulate a population from a young age, putting them in simulations like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Halo, Doom, and others. They think that indiscriminate killing without knowing the purpose is fun, or if there is a purpose through a storyline, it's usually grotesquely oversimplified from the reality of the USA just bullying undeveloped nations for their resources with lethal force

I don't know how anyone is actually deceived into believing they're 'fighting for their country' or 'defending America' when they're on the opposite side of the world relative to the USA and in a third-world-country conveniently patrolling oil-depots

It is not all 'frontline duty' there are a lot of roles to be trained in.
-I'm not military btw.

I mean it's not all about those veteran benefits.

You also get compensation for your work as a soldier while being a soldier[www.goarmy.com], possibly including possibly free college tuition, healthcare, $67k of total benefits in your first year (including a 27k salary and a possible 10k signing bonus, food, housing and clothing), a 30 paid days off. With 11 federal holidays, it can be assumed you get 19 vacation days. Some jobs only offer 11 vacation days. You can also get assistance with buying a house, and low or even no cost healthcare.[www.goarmy.com]

Plus there isn't always a major war going on, so it's oftentimes safer than say, being a cop. Aside from that you might have a patriotic streak, or some family member you respect in the military. Also, speaking of cops, if nothing else you can put your military experience on your resume to transition into becoming a cop.
