Are there any games like Die Hard?

A regular guy just bit tougher and grumpier than most finds himself on Christmas dealing with Alan let's cancel Christmas because of Loxley Rickman and the subsequent fall out as Harry Bruce 'not Lee' Willis confronts The Grinch Snape and tells him to give everybody's presents back not to ignore safety regulation on windows.

yeah some tough regular guy with great story finds himself in a not too unrealistic situation, is not a superhero and just gets on with the mission ahead?
basically Die Hard.
I know the ps1 games both trilogies.

john woos stranglehold. not on steam, but is on GOG. very mindless but fun action game, it is a sequel to john woos film "hard boiled" (1992)

Max Payne would be my closest recommendation but it has nothing to do with Christmas I dont think

The avenging aspect of the game feels kind of in line with Die Hard, just a bit

Much of the first game takes place in winter, so you could stretch the season to cover the connection?

But yeah, John McClane is--for all the violence in Die Hard--a somewhat humorous riff on the whole tough guy canard.

Max is noir detective fiction extended to its logical endpoint: mixing pills and booze with a deathwish. Nothing really funny about it, outside of some gallows humor (which is still hilarious, but not in the same vein as McClane).

OP: Consider Metal Gear Solid. Still not Christmas-themed, but given that Snake was very much inspired by the action heroes of the 80s (Snake Plisskin of Escape From New York being right at the top of the list--to the point that his surname is put to obvious use in MGS 2), you'll probably find the general vibe similar.

That is quite mind blowing moment.
The link from Metal Gear Solid to Die Hard and what they go through.
That is pretty damn close whode have thought? - not me obviously

I loved Metal Gear Solid, played all the VR / puzzles missions too.

Disco Elysium, looks interesting and weird.

Stranglehold - GoG! great platform. John Woo , another director i need to rewatch 'soon'. His name is legendary.

Max Payne - Die Hard, its all in the name, remember the Die Hard scene and the glass in the foot? that looked like...Max Pain! (sorry) - I think it is about time I got familiar with this series its been around so long I just always picked another game, thinking meh i'll get it another day.

It does not have to be Christmas themed but you could argue MGS was set in Lapland.
