Consoles are the cheaper alternative that are better as plug-n-play systems where you aren't constantly hassling with compatibility issues, outdated graphics cards, poor optimization, and all the other trappings that come with PC
Consoles will always have a place on the market. They are simply way easier to use for the average joe (or kid) and that's all they ever needed to be.
PC will always have a place for people who want full customization with their games and the hardware it runs on, and doesn't mind having to potentially install fan-made patches so a game works like it should.
The two can exist in harmony, and I'll never understand why people think one HAS to be definitive over the other. They each have their pros and cons and fit different needs.
The only upsides I see to consoles now is not having to deal with third-party launchers or "kernel level" software being installed in order to play games online, but who knows how long that will last.
Hence why mobile PCs like the Steam Deck and Rog Ally are popular.
