***unpopular opinion*** i dont like startrek.
startrek just feels too low stakes. everyone is always so calm and it kinda makes the enemy in each episode feel.. insignificant, it makes it feel like they know that they will come out of the episode alive. and because the federation (at least what i know) is all good and perfect, it makes the world feel almost... not real and unrelatable because its too happy that it makes it feel as though the problems in each episode aren't real and are instead minor inconveniences. another issue is a prefer story telling that takes place over multible episodes, not one story for each episode (and startrek uses small stories for each episode). NOTE: im using andor as a benchmark for a series/movie i like alot and so in other-words im comparing startrek to the masterpiece of andor.

i still prefer ToS to them all, horses for courses
i didnt really like strange new worlds just cause it felt like it was trying to have high stakes but oddly enough it seemed like everyone in strange new worlds felt like they knew they where gonna survive and was trying to act like they didnt know how it was gonna turn out.

Yeah, about the only gritty thing in Strange New Worlds is the Doctor. Rest of it feels cartoonish.

Andor does a good job showing the costs and intricacies of war.
yeah, startrek feels to happy alot, if the federation was real and had as much power as they do, they wouldn't be so Utopian as they are. immorality is bound to happen with most any extremely powerful entity so seeing the federation be so Utopian makes the whole show feel.... not real.

You might like Discovery then. Because they aren't 1 story per episode, they're 1 story per season. They get some galaxy dooming problems that they deal with too, not just little inconveniences that a teleporter or a torpedo can solve. People you come to know die, The Federation is in real danger, and you feel it.

Incels don't like it because it has female lead, but she's not some mary sue. She was a human that was raised on Vulcan, and really worked for all her skills. Has her shortcomings too.
sounds interesting... never heard of discovery.

Star Trek: Discovery.

The movie that spunoff from that, Section 31 - Absolute trash. Was like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Oceans 11 knockoff. It should have just been a Lower Decks cartoon, because hey made a complete mockery of the character development that happened in Discovery.
didntt you say it was good in your last post? or are discovery and star trek: discovery, different things.
You should watch Stargate instead.
It's much better.
OG Star Trek was pretty good. Well, a third of the episodes were anyway.🤔

The best episodes of Star Trek to me are the calm ones, where they sit around a table and just play cards and talk.

I can't find anything even close to that for any serie going back to the early 2010s. :(
The supposed Utopian living standards the Federation is supposed to live under really never made a whole lot of sense. You just have to look around to see that if you do not need to work, the majority will not. It is easy to nitpick the series to death, but for what it was, it was decent enough, but slow.

I haven't watched the series since seeing the first series of STD, and if they treated all the new shows like that, I can see why people would dislike it if they used to be fans.
