Just curious about this but
Why is it called "Gorilla warfare?"

Did Gorillas fight in such a way and the term was inspired from the way Gorilla's fight?

Does it have anything to do with actual gorillas or the way gorillas fight? Was the word derived from anything gorilla related?

A lot of words seem silly but there should be an explanation on the word's origins and additional info provided that explains the meaning of the word and its roots

I think one can get most of this on dictionary.com

I use it often when I dont understand a word

I think it comes from french or something European. Guerre means war, so it means something like warrior or fighter.

The term "guerrilla warfare" comes from the Spanish word guerrilla, meaning "little war," and was coined in the early 19th century during the Peninsular War in Spain. Spanish and Portuguese irregulars used these "little wars" of ambush and harassment to resist Napoleon's occupying forces, and British soldiers heard and adopted the term. While the term is modern, the practice of irregular warfare is ancient and has been used throughout history in various forms.

I thought it was because how Gorilla's (primates, apes) fight that influenced the word. Because humans are apes so I thought maybe there is some connection to gorillas.

Gorilla has same ancestor as human, we share same ancestor, so I assumed maybe the word has something to do with how gorillas fight and perform combat and influenced human combat since evolution says we are apes/monkey/baboons.

Also I have another question, how come our brothers aka the primates gorilla, orangutan, did not become smart like humans? Also do we have baboon dna too or just the ape dna?
