One time I changed my name and profile pic to Gardevoir and played on a few gmod servers. I had guys simpin to me by the dozen and even got added by them.

How about both? At least that is the case with the ones on GameFAQs. They realised they can game the system by claiming to be female. Gain mod simps and mod shields to hide their own toxicity.
