Agree or disagree #90755
I prefer that me and my partner prefer different types of games. So that we never get into fights in them. Them not really caring about playing the types of games I play, is okay since I don't have to care about what they do in their games.

We have a level of separation, our own "territories", like having different hobbies, though its the same hobby "gaming".

My games are my me time, I'd rather change the locks than share that with somebody
Would you recommend Spider-Man 2?
I don't care as long as they don't outright hate me playing games or prevent me from doing so.

I don't tolerate mini dictatorship in a relationship; there will be no negotiation for what I can do during my free-time. I would be gone quicker than a heart beat in the moment the relationship started to become unreasonable.

I will have my share of violent video games, or else!

When people come to my home they don't come here to rot in front of a screen.

I disagree. If a little video game is going to cause a schism in the relationship, it wasn't a very strong bond in the first place. If anything, playing games together should be a bond strengthening activity, even if we're pitted up against each-other. What's the point in playing a game if not to have fun? Maybe just keep proper etiquette in mind regarding being a gracious winner and not being a sore loser.
