In The Code of The Samurai it states if your emblem is getting tatty or torn or even faded.
Burn it.
Get a New One.

Because it would look bad on your boss having something tatty representing him.

Which is bit different to other cultures where preserving that flag or emblem is a duty and to be stored away with reverence and another to be made and brought out.
Or to keep using it until the last strands exist of it.
