Hey now, that's an insult to God-Emperor Admen
I don't know what else the show would be if it didn't have the murder mystery plot. Remember, Addams family started out as a comedy. When it was a black and white show it was basically taking normal family life and turning it into something absurd, which was the humor of it. Like you wouldn't let your kids stick forks in electric sockets, but for the Addams family, it's normal. That was the humor in it.
The 90's movies tried to make the Addams family more serious while keeping a lot of humor and honestly I think they did pretty good overall. The movies are what I grew up with. So when you take the comedy out of it, which was the heart and soul of the show and try to make it into some new reimagined dark and gritty show, how else do you move the plot forward? I don't have the answers, and apparently neither does Hollywood or anyone else. Maybe the problem is trying to make the show a more serious thing, when it was never suppose to be a serious dark and gritty show.
Well I'm halfway through season 2 and they already kinda did that. Her whole reason to solve the mystery is to save her werewolf friend.
I mean it's not terrible, but it's not great either. It's just yet another mediocre streaming show. Which is sad because they cast really great actors and could have made something pretty entertaining. The only actor I didn't feel fit the show in the beginning season nor the second season is the guy who plays Fester. Granted, they were aiming for Fester to be more like the black and white tv show series Fester, but I liked the 90's Fester the best.
Because Christina Ricci's portrayal of Wednesday and how her character was written was iconic and still popular to this day. Really when I think of the movies the first thing I remember is Wednesday when she goes to camp. I'd really like a different series altogether where they explore the lore more and show the extended family. But Wednesday murder mystery is what we got and probably all we will get.
They are, but the writing and the plot wasn't that great. The 90's movies are kind of a tragic in yet again they had an all star cast, but really didn't know what to do with the source material. No one has really figured out how to get the Addams family to work in a non comedic way.
Also speaking of Christopher Lloyd, he's in Wednesday, but not as Fester. I really really really wish they would have cast him for Fester instead of the other guy.
