Why involve yourself with ICE in the first place?
Depends. If the state lowered standards to be a firefighter like California lowered them to get a CDL, we may be better off without them on that job.

It sounds like you're trying to make excuses. Anything to whine about ICE to do their jobs. Read into the story more. ICE was asked by Bureau of Land Management to investigate their citizenship status. When they discovered they were in the US illegally, the Bureau of Land Management escorted all 44 people on that crew out, and will just replace them with a crew from a different contractor. They cut ties with those contractors for hiring illegals in the first place.
So you may want to take it up with those people instead of ICE for not only doing the job that is literally what they were created to do, but also being asked to look into those people by the people they were working for.
