im not too sure what you mean is going on. are you running the server in GUI or console approach?
right now i would suggest trying opening different ports but it also just sounds like server configuration issue. or maybe the way your launching it. i use an .exe to launch mine on a VPS in GUI with launch parameters for the map slot amount port and game i try not to over load the launch params but only some servers i think need the -port property to pull through.
i run alot of different source engine game servers they are all different and l4d and tf2 have a ton of ♥♥♥♥ going on, but to be honest just downloading srcds via steamcmd and patching the appid of any sourcemod into the file system usually does the trick, granted each mod needs its own server cfg set up. im sure l4d and l4d2 come packed ready to launch so even on a vanilla server you shouldnt need any real file work just altering the server configs and, idk. preferences and maplists. if verifying your files by just redownloading the srcds and l4d2 file systems through steamcmd isnt working, and youve tamped with files prior maybe something got messed up.
but to the sounds of it im catching that your server is online its visible on the master list in game on the internet but connecting to your server is causing the connection between you and server to fail leaving you able to connect to other servers still just not your own even through its visible and responding?
Console... -console is in the srcds call right there.
Dude, my entire 27XXX range is open right now.
It's probably a server configuration issue, but I can't figure out what is causing it, hence why I'm asking. The main problem is that it's not loading left4dead2's game file, despite reporting that it did. The command "status" SHOULD output something, but it doesn't, which, alongside the sm_* variables providing errors, tells me the server is not loading the game.
No, it's not that. It doesn't show up in the master server or anything. Again, status and the lack of sm_* variables helps illuminate the fact that it's something server side.
I can record my problem if it helps.
