VIP on my server
Hello,

First things first, I´m sorry for my English, but I hope you´ll understand my problem and will be

Okey, my question is -> I am planning on doing my own CS:GO servers, but VDS is not cheap (120 dolars per month).. And my question is about VIP (to make players able to support the server) on servers, is it legal and in accordance with Valve licensing terms ? Or are there any problems?

In my opinion there's nothing wrong with having VIPs in your server.

However, a basic CS:GO server (~20 maxplayers and Metamod + Sourcemod) can be hosted for example with an OVH-VPS, which costs ~4€/month.

Can be, but for me i don´t need 1 server with 20 slots, i wanna more slots and better mods. I wanna program with SM and do my own mods and etc!

I am happy from your opinion, but it is only your opinion and there is it.. Valve never release if its good or not.

That was just an example. Of course you can buy more expensive machine and run server for 32 players and with many other mods than just SM + MM. But in my opinion, if you're dependent on donations you shouldn't use an expensive VDS/VPS/dedicated server. I've hosted many servers in the past including but not limited to CS:GO, so I can say it is not easy to fund server with donations only. According to Steam stats CS:GO is the second most played game in Steam, so there are a lot of community servers, so it won't be easy to get players to your server. Also, you can buy a dedicated server for example from Here[www.kimsufi.com], so I can't see the point why to pay 120$/month for a VDS (expect it's location, but I assume there are cheaper choices).
Also, the system requirements of SRCDS are quite low, for example I've hosted two TF2 servers, with more than 15 players each, in a VPS with +2GHZ AMD Opteron and 3GB ram. No lag whatsoever.

When used to play HL2DM/CSS/TF2/CSGO I noticed that there was at least some kind of donation system in each game in most of the community servers (expect TF2 servers that tried to be as vanilla as possible). You still may read the Steam ToS. Basically, there are many Sourcemod plugins, which provide donation functions etc...
