Source modded CSGO server - SteamCmd says up to date, server says it's not
Hey all,

I'm a Linux novice, but fairly competent at command line work. I'm not super familiar with source based servers. I setup a CSGO server which resides on a dedicated Ubuntu 18.04 server in my home. I setup a VPN for my friends to connect to my router so that we can play without exposing the server to the wider internet. I had it working with Source mod for the last two updates. With the last update which happened yesterday or the day before, now my server is starting, and you can attempt to connect, but it fails. On client side, when you select the server from the browser, it says "connecting to server", fills the loading bar in about two seconds, and then dumps to the main menu without any error.

When I go to update the game using steamcmd it says that the game is up to date, but when I check the csgo server logs when I boot, it tells me that the server needs to be restarted to be updated. I have tried launching with the auto update flag, and that causes the server to boot, try to apply the update by restarting, and then loops that function.

I enabled the logging for the console, since I normally run it with Screen so that I can quit the ssh session and leave the game running.

Here's the server console.log file which will help, I think: https://pastebin.com/AGhN1NYf

Thanks for any advice,
Awpul

So, I remade the server. When I try to use the -autoupdate flag, it boot loops but I did notice that it says "WARNING: Could not locate steam dir:, ignoring." I currently have steam and .steam installed in /opt. I thought that maybe it was using an absolute directory so I tried moving them to /home like the wiki says, that didn't resolve it either.

I guess, if someone could tell me where their steam folder, csgo folder etc are located that would probably help resolve my issue...

To be honest, i never installed steam on linux, and never have any of those issues..
Open the server two times with root, it should create all steam folder/files necessary (worked for me a while back)
