Capturing user/camera view without built-in screenshot
I've been looking over the Source engine with the desire to try and make a pokemon snap kind of system, which requires the ability to take pictures and store information of what they are looking at for the sake of evaluating points, and then later show them back to the player for review. I cannot find any mention of how to capture the user's view other than with the built in F12 screenshot which saves itself in the screenshot folder. That's not ideal since it will fill up the user's folder with pictures and there doesn't seem to be any control over where exactly they go or a way to attach the information of what models they captured.

So, does anyone with more experience in the Source engine know anything about this problem? Is there a better way to take pictures in the game?

There's the default screenshot console command "jpeg" that you could use. As for evaluating it and playing it back I don't think you can do that without full engine access. Unless of course you find some way to convert it to a vtf/vmt after they take the picture.
