Valve, are you listening???
The source SDK has been all kinds of screwed up for over a month and a half now.

While other SDK betas may have been released, I use the HL2: Episode 2 game configuration to map for Garry's mod and it is still broken. I've tried different guides and suggestions for many hours now trying to get Hammer to work properly so that I can continue mapping, and even when Hammer does load, my views, brushes, and models are screwed up. People are continuing to leave the development community out of frustration now that an "improvement" broke everything.

Valve, are you proactively working on an update that will fix the Source SDK, or are you going to continue to let us figure out roundabout and only half-working methods to get hammer to work?

This will create You a *.BAT file that allows You to run Hammer etc.

Works fine for me and now I'm mapping again... ;-)

Personally I've always found the source SDK to be very user-infruendly, but that might just be because of what I'm trying to do with it, but from a coding perspective, I've definitely had an uphill battle.

Not sure what you guys are talking about, the SDK works great for me so far. Valve's probably just busy making HL-3.
