You can use the shortcut method of Ctrl+Z for undo; Ctrl+Y for redo.

Read before you do anything!

  • click the View tab, near the very top of the window (it involves all visuals)
  • hover over Screen Elements............
  • cow pie. It's not there.

So what do we do?

Use the Shortcut method. It's a good habit.

But you probably want a method that you can waste mouse clicks, instead.

You could reinstall Hammer, but that's if you are desperate.

So I Googled, and you will now mess with the Registry. Minus the mess.

1st, close Hammer.

Then, open regedit.exe and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Hammer\Barstate-Bar1\

There should be a setting called "Visible", just double click on it and simply change the value from 0 to 1.

Start hammer again and the menu should be back, floating and you can then put it back into the menu where you like...

If you don't see it. Restart the whole method. It should appear.

@iamthevirus, It is not to waste mouse clicks. Most of my work is done in the dark and finding a new way to use hammer after 900+hours of use takes time (its an old dog new trick thing). Not only that I need glases to see my screen, so in the dark the key board is even harder to make out since it is to the left of the screen for blind use with my left hand, you try doing ctrl y with one hand in the dark. This fix worked and I thank you for your help.

No problem. If you saw my keyboard placement, you'd kill yourself.

And I did it on purpose.

There is only 1.5 inches above the surface of the keyboard until it hits the wooden board.

So I don't see my keyboard.

It used to hurt the top of my knuckles; now I'm used to it.

I did it because it put the keyboard lower, so that it's more ergonomic, and so I could place food above it.
