Abbandoned Source SDK
What is up with all the Authorisation tools nowadays? All the new Source games are no longer a part of the Source SDK and are branching off - why? Sure, not so long ago the SDK got the Source MP engine but other than that, it's been left in the dark... also shouldn't the Source Film-maker be a part of it too? It's a shame to see the program being left behind.

i agree with you man. The Source SDK Is old news. I Don't get why they just keep it up to date or even release the code for the newer games to make mods out of. It's left in the dark, just like half life 1 sdk was.

Yes! It's true that the Source games are branching of, however setting up hammer for your favourite game back in the day was a hassle, how it works by default.

I've never understood how to mod Half-Life 1... How do you do it?

Yep, even worse, all Mac users can't play any mods, since Source Base 2007 doesn't support OS X and Source 2009 hasn't seen a source code release yet.

Surely there's a way we could try and bring Valves' attention to it? Like some sort of group or something like that?

I hope the portal 2 editor is the new sdk. which hopefully will come out soon.

Because it is the Source Software Development Kit... that's where it's meant to be catagorised - I don't see why new tools need to be a separate 'Authorisation Tool'?

It's probably because new Valve games don't use the GCF file system.

Cold'er is correct. The Source SDK is completely obsolete now. The best game for mods is Alien Swarm: it's free and the most recent game which provides source code.
