Steam not loading on Mac
Steam will not open on MAC. I downloaded the .dmg, and try to open it but it doesn't respond. I have re-downloaded, updated to new Monterey but it still doesn't work.

Any ideas?

I have the same issue, no solutions yet

I have the same issue, called apple support and they confirmed that the .dmg is faulty??? he said it seemed incomplete and that it's essentially just the icon that we're downloading.
Activity Monitor isn't even detecting the app when I try to open it - I've honestly tried everything, when I open the osx file it just comes up with 'Bad CPU type in executable', but its not even coming up on the activity monitor idek how it's coming up with that conclusion

I am having a similar issue. Steam worked this morning and then stopped responding. I have force quit, deleted all but the steamapps folder, restarted multiple times. But every time I try to install steam, when I drag the icon to the applications folder it seems to be malfunctioning. Then I try to open the steam app and it updates but will not run. Eventually says not responding.

I'm having the same problem. Loads the "extracting packages" page and then the little steam icon bounces then nothing happens. Tried deleting and downloading again. Tried restarting the mac. So far no solutions. Please tell us if someone finds a solution.

Exit Steam if you have it running
- Drag the Steam application from the location you installed it in (Applications by default) to the Trash.
- Open the Finder, Go to your Macintosh HD folder (access this from Devices in the left column).
- Hold down CMD-Shift-Period, All the hidden files will become visible.
- Next, go to User/[your username]/Library/Application Support/Steam.
- Delete all of the files and folders in the /Steam folder except for /SteamApps.
- Re-download Steam and reinstall the application.
- Launch Steam.app from your Dock or Applications folder.

That works just makes gaming too slow

Thank you so much! Tried everything that other sources have said to do and none worked. This solved my issue :)

For me what worked was just uninstalling steam entirely and re-downloading it from the website. The problem for me was that steam couldn’t update,so if you download it’ll be on the latest version. The only problem with it is tht yiu have to do that everytime you want to update steam.

I also cannot open Steam on my Mac. I am upset that Steam itself doesn't have a way for me to contact them directly about this problem, especially as it seems to be a universal for Mac users.

Same issue here - freshly downloaded and installed steam on my Mac (M1 Max with Sonoma). Every time I start steam it just "jumps" once or twice on the dock and then suddenly stops and nothing happens... please help! :-)
