HELP most of my icons show up as generic steam logos!
I'm on OS X El Capitan. I can't seem to find any other threads that have this issues. Some games that refuse to show up include Crypt of the Necrodancer, CK 2 and Civ IV. Others, like Civ V and Hotline Miami 2 are fine. Obviously doesn't affect playability, but it bothers me a whole lot. Whats the deal here? People have suggested deleting the appcache, but I can't seem to find it, even when I go through the library>applications support>steam directory.

I think its just because the specefic game forgot to add the icons to Steam for Mac, I have the same thing and haven't found any way to fix it yet.

Ah. Bummer. What games do you not have icons for, out of curiosity?

Mine include CK2 Civ IV Crypt of the Necrodancer Plague inc Devil Daggers, Endless Legend, and Terraria. Terraria used to have an icon, but it dissapeared a while back.

Oops... I just checked and now ALL of my logos are working properly other than the DOTA 2 Test, sorry; I did have this problem but it looks like it fixed itself without my doing anything. Best of luck, :steamhappy:

Wtf. So unlucky. It's been going on for ages. Terraria in particular has been iconless for almost a year. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Also every game I've ever bought as a DRM free from Humble or from GOG has icons. It's so odd that steam's are missing.

Are you talking about the icons in launchpad?

I'm talking about the ones in the applications folder. They don't have icons no matter where they are.

Hello
Blackthorn 27 Dec, 2024 @ 6:42am
I found that if you went into the files / "browse files" of the game you can find a icon of the game then copy that file and drag it to your desktop. Using that will then try to open the game, fail, open steam, and then open the game after a couple seconds.

This doesn't work with every game (Like terraria 😭) but does work for some (like NovaDrift), make sure not to drag the original icon file thingy as then when the game tries to access where it's data should be and open the game it will fail to locate it as you have moved it. Just duplicate the file drag it to your desktop and rename it afterwards.
