Remote Play Direct Connect (IP Sharing) Crash after macOS Sequoia update
Client:
macOS version: 15.6
MacBook Air M2 2022
Steam version: 1751405894

Host:
ASUS ROG Ally
Windows 11
Steam version:1751405894

Steam and games run fine on host device, host device has been used for streaming on this network to this macOS client before, no issues. The only change since last the last time remote play ran stable (like 2 or 3 days ago) has been updating to macOS 15.6 Sequoia from Sonoma on the client.

I was trying to stream KSP. Before changing any settings, Steam on Mac client shows green "Stream" button and can successfully launch KSP on host and launch the remote play streaming window with the KSP tessellated graphic background and the Steam UI throbber in the lower right corner. The throbber turns for about 2 sec and then the macOS "Game Mode" notification pops up. About half a second later the client streamer crashes. The game is still running on the host. Client now shows green "Connect" button, clicking this launches streamer, which crashes after a couple seconds of throbber/background same as before.

In the client taskbar Steam>Preferences>Remote Play, disabling "Allow Direct Connection (IP Sharing)" stops this streamer crash and allows normal playing. If "Allow Direct Connection" is set back to "Automatic (Enable)", the streamer crashes on launch, and the following four log entries are made in usr/Library/Application Support/Steam/Logs:

Just wanna be clear; remote play is still working, you just have to disable direct connection. For whatever reason Sequoia seems to have broken that.
