You will most likely never see death stranding for mac on steam unfortunately, Apple paid for the port and showcased it so just like most of the games in this situation they made it exclusive to the mac app store (though there are exceptions like No Man's Sky or Stray but honestly don't get your hopes up for a steam version anytime soon).
Thats kinda the way things are for a alot of devs on Mac.
Theres next to no real incentive to port to Mac and as Apple doesn't support any open standards it take more work to port. It sucks but think about it economically, why spend so much money porting to a such a small potential audience with the very real fact your games potential sales life is shorter for the platform and then give the price of the platform who isn't going to lock your games out?
While Windows loses compatibility with older games and programs every release you can tweak most of them to work again for any game on Steam.
Apple on the other hand killed off support for all pre Intel Macs, then they killed off 32bit game support, next they're killing off pre M1 support. Thats not a long sales life.
This post is about a MAS exclusive game and you're talking about porting from windows to mac and compatibility.
As much as Apple makes ♥♥♥♥♥♥ decision that's just sad that you feel the need to go on every post to complain about apple even when your argument makes NO SENSE in the discussion.
The worse is you had other good reasons to complain here, store exclusivities are ♥♥♥♥, apple making studios stay in their own store thus preventing some players to play because it lacks functionalities and sales and it not having cross-platform, it is something that people must complain about, but no you had to be completely off topic to make your point... well thanks dude that's helpful.
Lol what?
Its exactly on topic (hint read the post then my comment).
I explain exactly WHY the game costs more than on other platforms.
And two ITS NOT A MAC EXCLUSIVE! What in the world made you think its a Mac exclusive? The OP is about how its price is higher than the OTHER PLATFORMS THE GAME IS ON.
0-1
read the post next time.
Practice what you preach and read the post you’re answering to. They’re talking about MAS exclusivity, not MAC. MAS means Mac App Store. Death Stranding for Mac is only on MAS.
I give my score to cocanard.
You have lost it dude. They in no way shape or form said "This post is only about the Mac App Store!).
OP is LITERALLY TALKING ABOUT IT AND OTHER PLATFORMS.
You reeeealllly have to be jumping through some INSANE mental gymnastics to claim that other platforms (which op EXPLICITLY TALKS ABOUT) is magically off topic.
They asked about the price delta and whether it would return to steam (literally another platform),
I get you hate me bringing up Mac related issues (which you guys think should all be fixed by Valve like things beyond their store and client) but this is really cringy straw grasping dude.
What is it you're unable to comprehend? I'm not talking about ANY of the other issues anyone mentioned in my post (guess you didn't read carefully once again) so don't jump through your own "insane mental gymnastics" when you're called out for your mistakes.
The fact remains that cocanard (not OP) is talking about MAS exclusive and you answered in all caps "ITS NOT A MAC EXCLUSIVE! What in the world made you think its a Mac exclusive?", when they weren't talking about "MAC EXCLUSIVE". Deal with it.
It’s simply the developer’s choice. 505 games ported the Mac version for Kojima Production. Developers choose the store and price. The game goes on sale even on Mac App store despite the misinformation here. You just have to know when which is not as easy as on Steam but you can use AppRaven for example to track the games. With the new Games app in the next macOS 26 Tahoe after summer this will be much easier.
DS went on sale four times last year on MAS and the price was like Steam, Humble and Microsoft Store $20. This year it’s cheaper on Steam but the game hasn’t had any sales on MAS. I’m sure there will be some sale this year too. Next time could be June 19 like last year, or in Nov-Dec.
Another reason it’s only on MAS and doesn’t go on sale as often as Steam is that it has Universal Purchase and Family sharing. The Steam version includes only one game, the Windows version (not even a native Linux version). On MAS you get three versions for Mac, iPhone and iPad but pay only once. With family sharing also up to six family members can play the game at the same time for free unlike Steam. So those are some reason it’s not always as cheap as Steam and exclusive to MAS. It has nothing to do with Apple forcing the devs.
i bought DS on Ps5 and Steam, and then bought again DSDC on steam,
i dont wanna pay the 4th time for just the same game. FCUK 505games
