The error comes up due to a rate limit on how many login attempts can be made on a single IP address. It was set in place as a prevention measure from people login into a ton of accounts and draining inventories.
This limit can be hit if you are switching accounts often, have roomates who also have Steam, or use plugins in your browser that auto logs into Steam for certain functions.
You can either wait, login using your phone as a hotspot, or change your public IP if thats an option you have (usually isnt).
There you are again giving out cute little ”clown” awards. I have no use for your points but it’s always fun to take a fanatic Linux gamer’s points and give them to fellow Mac gamers.
Not sure why you get emotional and behave irrationally. You don’t seem to realize that you can make a post about a topic without hostile feelings towards others but that shows once again why you really engage in discussions in this Mac forum. There are lots of other threads here by people asking for help but conveniently enough you chose to respond to the one I alone had responded to just to make a cheap point and seek confrontation.
When you’re done playing a ”good samaritan” perhaps you could actually google the error code. Unlike you not everyone needs to be spoon-fed. Sometimes a helping hand is enough. ”Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime." A simple Google search gives hundreds of answers and solutions just like your copy-pasted post. Make a post by all means, but don’t try to pretend to be a saint with your track record and reputation here.
Either be helpful or don't post in help threads. Trolling help threads is only for the unwell and belligerent.
Says the guy who’s just back from another bancation for doing just that, trolling and posting disrespectful comments. Oh, the irony! Perhaps that’s why you still sound upset and irrational.
As usual this is just another dishonest example of your double standards where you don’t seem to think that your own rules apply to you. First you accuse others for ”trolling” and being ”unwell and belligerent” for advising people to google for different solutions but the next day you do the same in another thread, by telling people ”google how others are fairing trying to play them”.
I guess some people never learn to practice what they preach and clean up their own mess before giving advice to others.
I already gave way more help than you ever did, I don't have to do a complete step by step guide for every title to be helpful.
Get some help.
Way more help? Don’t flatter yourself too much! The user Fanjit asked if they could play all their Steam Windows games on Mac and if not how. You first answered to the easy part by saying basically ”No, check your library or google it!”. Then you dedicated half your answer to an off-topic chatter about expecting poor performance and not listening to people claiming ”they out game PCs” without even knowing which Mac Fanjit already has and with no signs of people making those claims in the thread. You didn’t even touch the second and most important part of the question: How to run Windows games on Mac? Still you sound like you expect an award for your limited effort.
Helping is voluntary and I don’t run a Mac help desk here or work at Steam customer support unless you didn’t know. It’s even more ironic to see a comment like ”I already gave way more help than you ever did” in a 26-page thread almost entirely made by me since 2023 with the sole purpose of informing and helping Mac gamers. The level of arrogance and ignorance in that comment is ridiculously cringeworthy.
You still can’t fathom that it’s not about what you ask people to google but the fact that you ask them to do so to begin with, according to your own standards. I didn’t either need to make a list of the reasons for and solutions to error E84 to be helpful. A Google search gives a simple AI-generated list but that counts as ”worthless”, ”trolling” and being ”unwell and belligerent” in your glass house while you consider your own same advice as ”way more helpful”. That’s the very definition of hypocrisy.
Don’t worry about the ”How to run Windows games on Mac?” part though. I already got that covered. Get some fresh air and have a Snickers. It would do you more good than trolling in Mac threads.
