Finally bought a deck
After a year and a half of saving I finally pulled the trigger on a Steamdeck OLED 1TB. Now the wait for it to be delivered. Anyone have tips on what I should do as soon as I get it? Games to install or look into? Settings to tinker with? Items to have rdy to make the most of my limited game time?

Hang in there. Took me awhile but will make it even sweeter when you are able to obtain your goal. Sending you good vibes my friend crossing my fingers that you get a windfall and are able to get yourself a steam deck!

I am in the same situation, want one so bad but something always goes wrong with the car or the kids need stuff. I get too distracted on PC and never play games for long, steam deck will hopefully help and i can just go somewhere in the car and chill.

Kids have been the reason it took so long to save up for me. I actually had saved up enough in Oct of last year but my daughter broke her wrist and the unexpected medical bill ate up my Steamdeck fund. Needless to say as soon as I hit 702 saved I clicked purchase haha

I was going to get one with my end of year work bonus but now gotta upgrade both my sons pc's, one of which still using a gtx980 lol.
I've had a steam deck for over a year now. I think you'll only need a Decky. I also use Local Send to quickly move files to other devices.

If you are going to buy additional protective glass, then I would prefer transparent rather than frosted.

And don't buy colored keyboards and initial video screensavers in the points shop. You can install any one through Decky.

Many games marked "Not supported on steam deck" are actually fully supported. Just watch YouTube and most likely there will be your game and a way to launch it.

Oh, yes, some more updates break the Steam Deck, so don't upgrade as soon as you receive the update, wait a while.
