Question about randomness
I'm still trying to figure everything out on steam and there's a lot. What's up with the post and comments with just random numbers or letters? If they're not random, please fill me in

They're spam. Valve used to have a task for the Community badge to post on the forums but that task was replaced over 9 years ago due to the vast amount of spam it caused.

Gotcha. So why still do it if there's no task anymore? Are they bots?

people make alts, people look at guides that are outdated, some make a random post to make it easier for their friends to find them, etc.
