Back when Valve was the #1 Blockbuster FPS Developer & Publisher.
When their Most Brilliant Developers were there.

You are probably only installing this.
To install some other Companies Game.

Because Steam has become a monstrously colossal socialist media platform.
Web Browser.
Chat Messenger.
Profile.
And Groups.
Forums.
Centralized Valve Controlled Repository of your Creations. ( Workshop ).
Where they cab easily leech ad copy / clone anyone features / ideas.
Like they always have.

I will offer you this advice.

Not all games require Steam to Operate.
And Steam itself eats up cpu cycles more than ever before.
Threads, and sub processes.
Not optimized.
Modern programming / scripting. Buggy, lost of exploits.

Lot of my Games are on other Platforms as well.

Like GoG ( Galaxy of Games ), Arc, Origin, etc.
And WG GameCenter instead of Steam + GameCenter = much less bloat needed to operate.

STANDALONE CLIENT INSTALLS.

Eat up less CPU.
And less System Resources.
