Valve has no control over government policies.
Just like in Germany.
Started by a bunch of politicians who don't know what they were doing. They were repeatedly told "this will not work" but in their arrogance they just kept going.
And before anyone screams liberal feminists, it was actually a right wing government who are guilty of creating this Internet Frankensteins monster!
For those who don't know, it's supposed to protect children, by introducing "robust" age verification for access to adult material. That includes games and gaming chat on some platforms.
The problem is, of course, that there is no particular way to verify age and maintain privacy. It's widely thought that it will just drive people underground and limit choice for everyone, while not really stopping children accessing material at all.
I am not against stopping kids accessing adult stuff, but this is just not the right way to do it.
And, yes, it's only a matter of time before someone notices Steam.
