Lag While Streaming With Steam Games
So i twitch streamed and this applies to any streaming platform that i use, discord stream or twitch, but whenever i stream a game on steam specifically the stream lags immensely. But when for example streaming from Epic games or anything else it goes smoothly, reason?

There's not much information to go off of overall such as the games, system specs etc, if you have the system resources and power to stream while gaming - it should perform well only if the entire load can be handled.

CPU use, ram total/ram remaining can make a difference. You can also enable Low Performance Mode in Steam and disable animated avatars & avatar frames (Settings -> Friends & Chat) which can use a good amount of CPU if your CPU is weaker.

Then there's the overall stream resolution, bit rate, upload speed vs settings, and other considerations such as background apps.

Since games vary in resource use as well, you'll want to know how much resource use it'll want, for example 24GB RAM is recommended if you want to stream RUST while playing on the same PC.

Partner Is having same issue on a Decent Spec gaming laptop, its most games, and it isnt an issue with specs, something about the way steam launches the games is causing an issue regardless of streaming software used,

2 games form steam that we've tried *dont* cause issues, "potion craft" and "tmod launcher" however vanilla "terraria" does, likewise non steam games work perfectly fine,

for the laggyness the stream either:

Starts fine for about 5-10s then drops to 1 frame per 3-5s
or
The stream refuses to load

in both cases the game and comm audio become heavily distorted to the point that I have to stop watching the stream in order to hear what she is saying, however she can still be "streaming" I just cannot view the stream without issue, other friends that attempt to view the stream have the same issue, with the video and audio quality drop only being present if *they* are attempting to watch the stream, I.e friend 1 is watchign and get distorted, I however am not and can here her perfectly normally, as soon as friend 1 stops watching, audio returns to normal

this happens regardless of stream streaming, twitch, discord, skype,

We have tried many time to no avail to resolve the issue and trying to find a post about this specific issue like this one is difficult as most are about the hosts being laggy, not the viewer

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
