Increased number of scammers?
I've been noticing more and more random friend requests, haven't accepted any, blocked them, but I'm guessing they're getting desperate.

its not them being desperate. its too many people being stupid and getting their accounts compromised and/or stolen. scammers have more accounts to use, they can spam more people.

Nowadays scammers could've AI / LLM's help them in writting a script to mass create accounts, then mass message / spam people to attempt scamming them, well at least that's my guess. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

limited accounts cant send friend requests, and the scammers are not going to spend money to unlimit an account when they can compromise or steal one just as fast. it would be a waste for them to use a stolen payment method to unlimit accounts that are going to be banned with in a few hours.

Well you could be right about that, but the scammers could be new, and desperate to make any money. For more established scammers. It may still be business as usual. The things is people are more likely to turn to crime. When their economic situation isn't going well. Frankly what you are describing sounds like amateurs.

Yeah I got one of those today as well. Account isn't even three days old yet, and only owns that one particular game. They couldn't have been more obvious, and yeah it is getting more frequent. So much so I'm debating making most of my stuff private.

Yeah, the accounts that have been randomly friend requesting me recently are level 10-20, which indicates to me that they're probably real accounts that got compromised rather than anything created specifically to scam.

Now that i think about it, yes you're correct :steamthumbsup:Numbers wise, it's cheaper for them to get compromised accounts or buy a few on bulk :lunar2020ratinablanket:
