I was repeatedly falsely reported by a mob of anti-consumer morons and now my account is permanently screwed over
Nuff said. I have receipts.

Support even ADMITTED they were wrong for most of these suspensions, but they REFUSE to lessen the PERMANENT PENALTY they have falsely applied to my account.

It's pretty clear that I won't be able to fix this, short of getting a lawyer. So I want to make this problem well known.

Everyone? Share your stories of how crap the support/report systems are.

EDIT: To clarify, I am NOT the only one dealing with this btw. A LOT of people are suffering from this broken system.

EDIT 2: Forgot to post screenshot btw. My bad. Forgive the way I cropped it. Had to do it that way to avoid the "naming and shaming" thing.

EDIT 3: My point has been proven. Step a single TOE out of line and you get a month long suspension.

That's not how bans work

It literally is. Mods abuse their power ALL THE TIME these days. If you're just here to lie, you can just leave.

Sounds like a community ban and not a VAC one in which case, why care about it? They didn't care about you in the first place. Communities are managed by the developer, not Steam as far as I am aware.
Honestly on these forums your only course of action is to just not bother posting on them at all, find other forums to post on, post on social media. make sure the shame is spread around. but getting rid of a perma-ban probably won't happen unless you could get in touch with Gabe Newell himself. Good luck on that front.

This is not true, when someone reports a user both the Publisher(unless the developer is both they won't see the report) and the Steam Community mods see it. Depending on the offense it could be one or the other that slaps a warning or ban on you.

TF2 forum?

Maintain some distance for a good while a bit, that's all I can say.

Community "managers" have the power to PERMANENTLY SCREW ME OVER. And they have. I say ONE thing, and I risk losing access to the market and trading and a whole host of other things for 6 months.
Now. I LITERALLY have receipts. Share your story or leave.

Unfortunately you're right. The only option I have is to make sure they can't hide the problem anymore.

tf2, dragon quest, runescape, terraria, the list goes on for MILES. The tf2 one was especially bad because I DIDNT BREAK A SINGLE RULE. Yet BAM. Suspended.

How is your account permanently ruined? I don't see a ban listed on your profile, you're not banned here and I can't see a ban anywhere on any recent hubs you've visited.

Also, no lawyer is going to be able to help you when you get banned from a privately owned and operated platform. There's no legal ground for you to stand on
Glad to see you edited your OP to include a screenshot.

It wasn't anything to do with a current ban, just a response to a ticket you submitted in regards to a ban of some kind. Looks like they told you that any future bans will last for 6 months.

It takes a lot to be banned for that length of time and for support to turn around and say "No, we're not taking it easy on you".

Here's hoping you can keep within the rules and avoid that from happening.

EDIT: It looks like they're also referring to community bans. So it seems you're somehow getting yourself banned from multiple game hubs, triggering a community ban. Given these bans will now be 6 months in length for you, seems like the problem is on your end.

GET OUT OF MY THREAD. YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE.

People can post on whatever they thread they want to. And given your somewhat overblown response to simple posts, I would say the bans are probably well-deserved.

Calm down a little and probably take a break from posting. You can't get banned if you don't post.

https://imgur.com/6Hom0LB This just looked like someone upset with a situation, and pointing it out. However it does remind me that others asking questions are often to bait folks into a ban, noted.

You're either friends with the OP or an alt of the OP to have access to the ban message.

I asked a genuine question to seek clarification on their issue. It was not bait. They took it that way, posted several times to tell me to "get out of the thread, not falling for it" and it looks like it got them banned.

Had they just answered the original question without all this nonsense, things would have gone differently.

You CAN, however, be banned for simply participating in a thread.

You can also be banned from specific game forums for quite literally any reason or none whatsoever. Asking Steam Support about this results in "Game devs run their forums how they wish."

Getting banned from multiple forums for quite literally anything or nothing results in a community ban barring you from participating in ANY forum for X amount of time.

Trying to appeal this will result in "We've investigated ourselves and found no wrong-doing".

Eventually steam support will simply ignore your tickets because they have no true customer support or care about keeping the forums clean.
Oh man...that is a long history of going into game hubs one has zero interest in just to pick fights, complain, and be toxic. Nonstop since like Dec 2022.
