Really Recommended Games for 2025
It's a little early but we're putting the titles that we really recommend, after having tried them and that even if not finished, we consider valid as real challenges/real fun of the year, we'll add as time and releases arrive.

let's put the ones tested/released in this 2025

I bring attention to

Only way is down

half life rtx
While I despise rewind and save state cheats, I am enthused for Shovel Knight DX.

Darkwater is still unappetizing, should it be supported?
Elona is still unmatched if you need an rpg experience.
Waiting for the new Sea of Stars DLC that comes out sometime this year.

ok it seems there is not much, but let's not put titles not yet released, let's limit ourselves to what we have tried to recommend, I have identified titles that could be nice, but until you try...

lately games with a retrogaming taste launched even in these very last years, have extremely positive ratings compared to those that only provide non-optimized AAAA gameplay.

If you want games that have been released, cheap, and ones that I have personally tried and enjoyed.

There's Tales of Maj'Eyal (https://te4.org/)
Steam version is the deluxe edition, just comes with like one extra class than the free version and cosmetic options for your character model (you can still alter your looks through your gear as you play normally though even in the free version). You can get the free version from their website.
https://steamhost.cn/app/259680/Tales_of_MajEyal/

Endless Sky
Freeware 2D space exploration, trade, and combat game. Start off with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and take on jobs to build up capital and get better ships. Build a fleet, get roped into politics that's above your paygrade. Become incredibly racist (believe me, they do deserve it).
https://steamhost.cn/app/404410/Endless_Sky/

ENA: Dream BBQ
If you've watched the Youtube shorts you more or less know what sorta ♥♥♥♥ to expect. Its a puzzle/walking sim set to the Ena universe and all that insanity.
https://steamhost.cn/app/2134320/ENA_Dream_BBQ/

Vintage Story
Basically Minecraft's Terrafirmacraft mod but standalone and not gimped by terrible optimization. That's about the best I can sell it. If you know what TFC is you either love it or hate it. There's no inbetween. And if you like TFC I highly recommend trying out the minecraft modpack Technodefirmacraft as well.

Elona (specifically Elona+Custom-GX)
An absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane roguelike RPG. One of the few games that's always evergreen and never a bad time to get back into. Its incredibly open in how you can approach everything. From character creator allowing you to pick from various races and classes, to even how you grow said classes. Like, why be a boring wizard when you can also use your immense intelligence to also pick up gene splicing and start crossbreeding the perfect little girl to staff your museum where you store your TCG and Funkopop collection. The genetic deadends you can just send to the farm to milk and harvest eggs from. Why be a boring warrior when you can be a mutant, gain new limbs every few levels, maybe grow another 10 arms and become a whirlwind of blades? Why be a boring ranger, get yourself an AK47 with time stopping bullets. The game even has a pretty in depth crafting system and housing that allows you to fully make your own homes however you want and even staff them with npcs for various uses. The game is entirely free and has been receiving updates for longer than 90% of fortnite's playerbase has been alive.

Yeah the state of "Triple" A gaming is absolutely abysmal. Nintendo is an absolute joke if they think Switch 2 is worth that price, hell the Switch 1 isn't even worth the current price because of how woefully underpowered it is and is incapable of playing most of its library at a respectable fps. Hell, it can't even run Hyrule Warriors without constant stuttering and BoTW I was able to tank down to single digit fps before even leaving the tutorial island without even trying. TYD can't hold a stable 30fps except for in sparse maps, god knows glitzpit chugs.

And you just know with the absurd price they're trying to get away with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like Rockstar are going to try and pull that crap with GTA6 charging over $100 for a game that's going to be unplayable on launch and in a year is going to be on life support just enough to milk more whale shark cards

The real problem for Rockstar and for those who try with these triple A will be to manage some requests from the tech between amd and nvidia and try to run on windows.

Only this undertaking can delay Gta6 until May 2026.

The difference is that only Rockstar has the funds and time to give you ready titles. The problem is that if they asked the players, they would probably win something like a red dead redemption 3 or something medieval, just because it is strange to simulate a reality that you see when you leave home. More to make a contemporary "ultima online".

Others now owned only by microsoft are no longer able to release convincing titles for the public, releasing titles with the hope that they can entertain, but most of the time remains the fight with win11.

The little that comes out is thought by the players' ratings to give the verdict, certainly not the various testing companies.

The console story remains, the title must be made for consoles, after porting for a beta system like windows, consoles cannot handle the requests for filters and special effects of the hardware, when they are activated for PCs, the PCs crash, no time for test.

We have proof of only one title made for PC, star citizen, soon it will have collected the amount to colonize and terraform inside Mars, will it succeed in its enterprise?

maybe to get it running now we need to raise funds to create an operating system or have it built by some artificial intelligence.

PC gaming will take a huge hit when GTA 6 is released. Console sales will go up like crazy.

If we are lucky and look into the past, we will get the game a year or two later.. But so far they did not even officially announce a possible pc version.

I think most people overestimate GTA 6... it will lack the Houser Bros. influx... even more than V already did...and let´s face it... V wasn´t that good overall. Don´t get me wrong, I had fun playing it but it was lightyears away from San Andreas and now, I am honestly unimpressed if they put half of the US on their map...since we´ve seen how that will end in mostly lifeless driveby landscapes like in V.

I sure as heck wont buy a stupid console for a single game. Nor will I buy a two year old game at full price if released for PC eventually whilst everything about it has been spoilered to heck and back again unless you really take extreme measures. It´ll be a similar online cheater fest and R* points orgy anyways and that, I will not support. Screw these damned online modes.

I knew nothing of the GTA 5 plot until it released for PC and I played it. I won´t go through these burning hoops set on fire again.
I got spoilered for RDR2 (eventually, kept myself unspoilered for years) and thus, never finished the game. Not that it is a bad game, but if you know a certain thing is gonna happen, the whole point of playing it that far and knowing it is kinda moot.

My recommendations so far: basically none... unless you haven´t played Oblivion yet, it´s a nice remaster that even copies the OG jankyness down to the very atoms of your harddrive, alas it´s either stupidly easy or bonkers hard (on expert). :p

You're assuming they won't just release a PC version, along with the console version. As it's been delayed for a year.

That and the possibility of it costing $100. Which is going to be a big turn off for many people.
Not enough time has passed in 2025 to see all the game contenders, but i have heard very good things about Blue Prince.

https://steamhost.cn/app/1569580/Blue_Prince/

In fact many youtube videos consider it could be the top contender for GOTY of 2025. The game is not for everyone as it's style and playstyle are more puzzle oriented, but all the videos ive seen of it say it is a spetacular game.
