I only accept friend requests from people I know IRL, and even then I make sure it's actually them.
They tend to come from scammers hoping to trick you into giving away your inventory.
Or they are someone who can't really afford most games and are hoping to beg for you to gift them one.
In 95% of cases its someone who has a question about a certain Steam function like Family Share or regional restrictions and i dont mind helping people out. I was very active on the forums the last 13 years and i try to help when i can so naturally its mostly those users who add me.
I honestly never have been added by a scammer in my 13 years on Steam. Of course i dont play multiplayer games like CSGO 2 or similar, my inventory is pretty much devoid of anything valuable and i am not a member of any trading groups. So i am not really a target of those out to scam.
If we have friends in common, usually i will.
If we share the same game and have a lot of hours? sometimes i will.
If neither and you have a human woman as your PFP, you're likely a TF2 or CS:GO bot trying to scam me.
Unless they play REPO or Phasmophobia, then they are probably a real woman.
