the problem with downloading SteamVR

please help. I ran into a problem installing SteamVR, I have it in my library, but when I try to download, I get an error about lack of space, although there is enough space, and also does not allow me to choose the installation path, what should I do? How do I download it?

You basically need twice the amount of space you are going to require after the installation is done. Those downloaded files are not just floating around in memory and require to be accessed from your HD after they are downloaded.

I would be stressing the heck out if my drive where my OS is installed can't handle installing a normal program. Heck, I would start stressing out if I don't have at least 400-500 gigs free on that drive...
