steam is now Bricking and taking away games ive been playing for YEARS

games ran just fine before today
now game will download 98% of the way andddd Corrupt Download
steam changed the download system and now im unable to download games because im using windows 7
get hit with Corrupt Download or Content Severs Unreachable when trying to download some new games and update some games.
these are games that advertised working on windows 7 when i purchased it, it still does, i just cant play it anymore cause steam wont let me download...
some games i have 2222+ hours in and magicly today with one tiny update its bricked
the only fix i know of is having another person who owns the same game on windows 10 or higher download the game and send me the files, every single time....
ive got a steam deck but because its linux i cant move files from it to my pc cause its missing some and the games wont work. hands down the worst purchase ive ever made, do not recommend.

two of the games ive reported this on the dev have reverted back to the old download system and i can play those games again

But nothing I've seen in any patch notes indicates changes to Win 7. Mainline branch not updated today and the beta was updated yesterday.

Only option you get is through Steam Console, then use the Depot Downloader.

Valve warned that Windows 7 support was being dropped.

IIRC, that red warning on the client is still there, so they've been warned every day since before Win 7 was officially dropped.

They haven't taken them away. They are still licensed to your account. Upgrade to supported operating system and the Steam client will again be able to manage them on your PC properly.

That is not to mention you've been her since at least 2017 and for some unknown reason have completely ignored the fact that windows 7 has moved on. Upgrade, move on.

The upgrade to windows 10 was free I took the leap and was happy that its pretty similar no new parts required Steam registered my PC as windows 10.., however you ignored all and now the update is nolonger free .

do your best and get a debloated client of windows 10. backup everything and get tinkering fella. sorry it's this way but everything is modernizing

Technicalyy that is not correct. To upgrade to Windows 11, you have to have some requirements that some old systems will not support or have. The main one is TPM. My Windows 8.1 could not be upgraded to 11, but only to 10. That is one reason way I purchased a new gaming tower.

P.S. If I think I understand what you mean, you take the risk of not having a supported OS. I mean using a workaround to upgrade your Windows.

Also to topic starter: What is bricking? Did you mean breaking?

by bricking they mean they can't use the hardware for its intended purpose due to software issues
