But nothing I've seen in any patch notes indicates changes to Win 7. Mainline branch not updated today and the beta was updated yesterday.
Valve warned that Windows 7 support was being dropped.

"To continue using of Steam and any games or other products purchased through Steam, users should update to a more recent version of Windows."
In the mean time feel free to follow your own advice which I highly recommend.

That is not to mention you've been her since at least 2017 and for some unknown reason have completely ignored the fact that windows 7 has moved on. Upgrade, move on.
Heres a how to do it

P.S. If I think I understand what you mean, you take the risk of not having a supported OS. I mean using a workaround to upgrade your Windows.
Also to topic starter: What is bricking? Did you mean breaking?
by bricking they mean they can't use the hardware for its intended purpose due to software issues
