Nasty game titles appeared in MY LIBRARY
Suddenly found 238 games in my LIBRARY, a whole bunch I NEVER added, and won't play. Get these out of my WAY, I don't play horror, first person shooter, or anything like it. A lot of this disgusting trash is labeled "Dedicated Server". This is more than annoying, way to much garbage in between my chosen content. Trying to hide them all is not an option. Steam you are becoming a PEST. nuf said.

The dedicated server stuff is part of tools that EVERYONE gets access to.
Just change to filter settings of your library to make tools invisible.
They are not installed on your system, just available for download should someone wish to use them.

102 of these titles have NO RECORDED ACTIVITY. I've never had to filter games out of MY LIBRARY that I didn't put there myself. This happened TODAY, and I don't like it at all. Not all of it is "dedicated server" tiltes, either. Hiding 102 titles I had nothing to do with is absurd, Steam has a problem, I don't.

Favorite everything you like. Then only show favorites. That's what I do.

Every account has these tools. Uncheck the Tools filter in the Games drop down menu above the game list on the left.

You accidentally clicked tools. That’s not Steam’s fault.

Un-click it.

Tada.

I didn't check any "tools". This stuff is spam.

In the top/left of your library. You should see a button that says “Games, Software, Tools” or “Games, Tools” or “All”. Click on this button and a drop-down should appear. Simply untick tools and the tools will be gone.

Some tools you get automatically, some are added when you purchase a game. Most of these are just for game modding or hosting multiplayer servers.

A tutorial on how to create favorites:
https://youtu.be/fNq0-CC9i_0

Once you've done that, click on the area above your list of favorite game titles and mark the checkbox at the bottom that says: 'group by collection'.

Does this mean you will use Steam less in the future?

You're not the first to be caught off guard by the tools. But they are in fact tools that you are seeing, not games, not spam. We all have them in our libraries. Your library is showing the same tools we all have access to.

The drop down box that lets you change the library menu from grouped by collection or not has several categories that you can toggle on and off. Games, Tools, Software, Soundtracks. Just make sure Tools doesn't have a checkmark next to it and all those dedicated servers and the like will stay hidden from view.

as mentioned uncheck tools, you dont need to favorite anything.

or dont and keep seeing them.

have a nice day

Yes you did. Uncheck the tools box to hide them and then you can slowly pretend you didn't create this thread:lunar2019coolpig:
