It wasn't before this generation of gamers. I hate to lay blame BUT this a good percentage of this generation of gamers has really acted entitled. That wasn't as evident during previous generations of gamers.
We learned to be grateful we even had games. The key word in that sentence is "grateful".
Now it's I want more ... I want prettier ... I want this, I want that. It's like watching Veruca Salt singing "I want it now!" on Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
It's the reason Windows 11 sucks. Gotta add this and gotta add that to impress people. We'll pretend to forget we just want a safe OS that actually works 100% of the time.
You blame the games, but the fact is there are plenty of gamers to blame as well. It takes 2 to tango.
Maybe a restart where developers, publishers, and gamers all need a break to remember what made gaming great is the best move right now.
