id say it's probably scams since that's the most common area where things like this happen

I would say both, scams for the locked loot and stupidity for being told by the seller the ‘totally guaranteed way to lift the VAC ban’ script thinking that the loot will be theirs once they do that step

Can’t say I would have any empathy for them under the circumstances

Most don't know the accounts are banned until after the "sale"

The sellers hide that bit of info.

I assumed that the red text would be visible, in that case if they bought sight unseen that is even more stupid (and obviously still a scam)

For some countries its a way to make money, they buy an account and sell the skins.
what they forget is that account selling is kinda like thrift stores, the people who work there aren't going to sell you the good stuff.
They already kept that themselves the moment it came in.

Which makes it so much more fun to reply to their "the erroneous vac ban" posts.

They usually don't know until after they buy them or they were banned afterwards due to being flagged for the next ban wave, and yes in some cases they got the accounts banned due to their own behavior.

Maybe it is their appeal, you can't just assume that they're lying about it.

I believe VAC has made a mistake in banning me - what do I do now?

These forums only offer user to user support and as a result this forum section should only be used to find information on the VAC system. The forum community (including volunteer moderators) are unable to investigate VAC bans. VAC bans cannot be appealed. If a VAC ban is issued incorrectly it will be automatically removed after investigation, but Steam Support does not manually remove VAC bans applied to accounts for any reason.

If it is permanent why my friend got unban after 2 weeks, it says "global cooldown" by VAC, you didn't even try to explain this one? Why would you want to translate it in Spanish, it doesn't prove a point.

cooldowns have 0 relation to vac or game bans, what do you not understand?
