VAC Banned on Faceit — But It Wasn’t Me (Phishing Mistake Warning)

I want to share my experience so others can learn from my mistake.

I received a permanent VAC ban even though I was only using Faceit. Back in the CS:GO days, I wanted to play a match on Faceit, so I searched for it on Google. Unfortunately, I clicked on a **fake ad link**, not the real Faceit URL. It looked identical, so I didn’t notice anything strange.

When I tried logging in, the fake site told me to remove Steam Guard for “security reasons.” I believed it because I thought Faceit was a secure platform. I removed Steam Guard and logged in, but nothing happened — I was confused and frustrated, so I gave up and played a normal CS:GO match instead.

Two days later, I noticed my Steam username had changed to something in Chinese, and I realized my account had been hijacked. I quickly changed my password and re-enabled Steam Guard. But within a few days, I got VAC banned.

I contacted Steam Support to explain the situation, but they sent the standard response and said they don’t remove VAC bans under any circumstances — even if the account was hijacked.

So yes, the ban is permanent. I’ve accepted that. But I just want to **warn others**:

> Always check the URL. And never disable Steam Guard — that’s a big red flag.

Even though it wasn’t me who cheated, I’m still VAC banned because my account was compromised. Please learn from this.

Try creating a ticket to the FACEit support, it has nothing to do with VAC, you said you got the ban there right? [/quote]

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually didn’t get banned *on* Faceit itself — the issue happened when I mistakenly clicked on a fake Faceit login page (it was a phishing link from a Google ad). I entered my Steam credentials and removed Steam Guard, thinking it was part of the Faceit process. My account was hijacked shortly after that.

I was VAC banned later — likely because the person who accessed my account used cheats on CS:GO. So the ban itself came from Valve (VAC), not from Faceit directly.

I’ve submitted a ticket to Steam Support already, but as expected, they confirmed that VAC bans are permanent and not reversible — even in hijacking cases.

So while the incident started with a fake Faceit login, the ban is 100% a VAC ban from Valve. Just sharing my experience to help others avoid the same mistake.

just stop. you already been banned before for giving incorrect information. steam support will not remove any bans. they will tell OP to come here to ask questions

I got unban cuz I wrote a ticket over them telling that I got mass reported for no reason, then they confirmed that it is true, they proceed to unban me on this acc. I never broke any steam rules btw.

BS, you broke the rules and you got a temporary ban. and you already been reported for giving incorrect information. so here is information again for you to read

No. VAC bans cannot be appealed.

I was not using my account when it was VAC banned. Can the ban be removed?
No. Any bans added to an account will remain regardless of who was using the account at the time the infraction occurred. Ultimately, the use and security of your Steam account are your responsibility.

While we understand this can be frustrating, we must maintain a zero tolerance policy for cheating to foster a fair game that all players will enjoy.

Na ah, I didn't broke any rules, it got removed, if I did, my ban will be a 1 week straight on this forums, also VAC bans aren't really permanent in some instance, some bans might be false.

then you will have no problem showing us your ban what you received from support. again vacbans are permanent. If it was incorrect and i do mean IF it was incorrect, then it would have been removed anywhere between couple hours to a month or two after they received it, definitely not after 978 days. and seeing you are telling people to go to steam support, guess what they will do, they will either give the Vacban information, gameban for cs2 information or gameban by developer information and tell them bans cannot be removed and to come here to ask questions. so you are both giving people the wrong information and wasting steam supports time.

There is no mass reporting as that would require a REASON to be given every. single. time. and moderators check all the reports.

Reports don't do much without proper reason, no matter how many.
